Day 1

CaveFree
Huda luknja

Huda luknja is a cave in the Koroška region of northern Slovenia, opening in the narrow valley between Velenje and Slovenj Gradec. It is a place to see a karst cave entrance set in a forested gorge, with the Paka stream flowing nearby. The roadside location makes it an easy short stop on a drive through the valley.

Lake
Ivarčko jezero

Ivarčko jezero is a small lake in the Koroška region of northern Slovenia, set among wooded hills above the Meža valley. It is a quiet spot for a short walk around the shore or a rest by the water. The lake lies near Ravne na Koroškem, which makes a convenient starting point for the visit.

Castle
Puchenstein Castle

Puchenstein Castle, known in Slovenian as Grad Pukštajn, is a historic castle in the Koroška region of northern Slovenia. It is a stop for visitors interested in the region's old noble residences and the landscape of the Drava valley area. The site lies near Dravograd, so it fits easily into a day of exploring Carinthian Slovenia.

Good to know

Huda luknja is a gorge with a cave mouth by the main road — a short stop, a longer walk if you follow the stream. Ivarčko lake is a pond with a meadow around it, good for a picnic and an easy walk; the lanes up to it are narrow. Castle interiors in Koroška open irregularly — treat Pukštajn as a view from outside unless an event is on.
